Car takes a while to start

when I try to start my oldsmobile aurora it cranks but wont catch right away and then finally starts. Do you know how to solve this problem?

i have a 1997 aurora and the first time you try to start it ,it wants to crank and not start, sometimes trys to catch but kinda pops and dies, it always starts after 4 to 6 trys and starts good the rest of the day. it only when you try to start it for the very first time each day.can anyone help?

A tune up might be in order. By tune up I mean spark plugs, Distrubtor cap and rotor button and plug wires. I would also check the timing and replace the fuel filter.
