I have a 20 qt Hobart Mixer. The magnet that is needed to allow the unit to run, is missing. We have used a store bought horseshoe style magnet for the last year or so, but does not work now. Do you have a solution?

The magnet is in the front gaurd. I suspect you have it taped on the back. looked behind the gaurd and you will see a small nut with a threaded stud looking thing in the neck of the mixer this is a electricl switch the magnet works. maybe your magnet is not ligned up on it or the switch is bad and you need a new one. the head is held on with 4 bolts onder the head is the switch and another switch for the bowl lift. . Best solution is have your front gaurd on and sliding corretly get a new magnet for it and it will lign up. If I cam and fixed it only way I would is with gaurd magnet. Can you tell I am factory trained and been drilled by Hobart lawyers many times. LOL never bypass a Saftey
One thing if mixer does not run at all it could be many things On/oof switch, Timer, bowl lift shwitch. Gaurd switch, realy that runse it in gaurd models. so be to be sure you need me LOL kidding. Good liuck

I have a Hobart 60 qt mixer that has oil coming out the top around the shaft cover. What would cause this?

Do you really mean a 60 qt. mixer? That is industrial size and would be about 4' tall. Maybe a 6 qt. mixer? In either case, oil coming out around the shaft cover indicates that someone either over-lubricated the mixer or used the wrong viscosity lubrication. Has it been serviced recently? You might need to take it back to wherever it was serviced.

My 20 qt. mixer has no power in speed #1.

Hi All. Since the original poster has not responded to my request for ML and spec. #'s, I'll offer a solution based on a spec.# 3943 for anyone with the same problem. This is an older model A200 with a solid aluminum gearshift lever.

Stop using the mixer!!!

The slow speed gear (1st. gear) is engaged by a "diving key". Over time this key can wear to the point of failure, or break entirely and will no longer engage. This failure only affects the first gear, allowing the second and third gears to function properly. If you can stop the mixer attachment by hand while in 1st. gear, then you have the above problem. The unit must be serviced. If the key has been sheared there is the potential for a broken piece of this key to get into the trans. grease and cause further damage to the mixer. For a Hobart Tech., this is relatively easy to repair as a minimum number of parts need to be removed in order to expose the diving key.

Call your local Hobart office to schedule a repair. If you've never done any repairs on this model, do not tackle this project by yourself. I you have some experience with this model goto the hobartservice.com website, register for free and then download the parts list. Ensure that you have the list for the 3493 spec.

Good luck!

Hobart A200 Mixer not working

Sundance,
Please visit the corp website www.hobartcorp.com and click on the "Sign In" link in the upper right hand corner. You'll need to complete a brief registration form, but then you'll land in the Hobart Resource Center.

Hobart no longer manufactures the A200 mixer - but you can review and download a user manual and a parts catalog from the Resource Center on your mixer. That should help you understand the parts need.

We do sell replacement parts direct to end users, just visit our service website at www.hobartservice.com - and click on the "Locate on Office" link. You'll be able to contact your local Service branch to purchase a replacement part OR to have them take a look at the unit and provide a quote on fixing it.

If you have additional questions on Hobart products - please contact me at [email protected] .

Thanks!

Hobart 140 Qt Mixer 4 speed. needs the oil changed? what kind of oil to use?

You can use a heavy weight gear oil or call the local hobart branch for it.To remove oil----Look under the mixer where the beater shaft is in the back and you will see a three quarter inch nut, remove this nut and drain the oil then put nut back in.To fill the unit remove the top cover screws and remove the top,you will see a long hexagon nut in length, remove this and grab a funnel then add the oil---be patient it takes time to fill as the oil is heavy.

Hobart 20 QT. mixer (HL 200) will not operate on a GFCI receptacle.

you need to replace the gfci, the older gfci's interpret these frequencies as a shock hazard and shut off power to the circuit.you can buy @hobart, part#913053, that should solve the trip problem. dont forget to vote thanks monomoy
