The tiller won't adjust. Push the tiller adjustment and the handlebars stay down, makes it hard to drive. Of course if it had broke and stayed-up wouldn't have been able to get it back in my van.

Need to remove the five screws form the back side of the tiller. You can then tell if the adjustment lever has come off or the adjustment cylinder is bad.

On the XL the adjustment is on the tiller handlebars. The left hand bar has a pull lever like a small brake lever. This is the release for the tilt on the tiller.
Make sure the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. There is a fuse in line on the 3 pin charge port on the scooter. You have to take all the screws out of the back of the tiller to get to the fuse. You can go on Golden's website and download the service manual. It is a wealth of information.
the tiller is the steering shaft, the long portion from the handlebars down to the
the tiller is the steering shaft that is located from the handlebars down to the wheels, it can usually be folded down to transport a scooter in a vehicle
Model Well there could be problems in the tiller area or with the controller near the trans axle. A bad throttle pot can cause it not to move or a bad speed control pot or a bad cable to the tiller from the rear. Could also be a loose connection so check all your connections at the rear and in the tiller. Unfortunately with a scooter there is more that can go wrong than with a power chair and trying to fix over the internet is hard. You can contact your provider to see if they can check it out for you Might cost a little but at least you would know what the problem is. Sorry I couldn't tell you exactly what the cause is Good Luck Hope this helps
Julie I don't have a replacement key but if you contact Golden Tech @ 800-624-6374 or e-mail the parts dept @ [email protected] give them the serial number and they can get you a key. Now if you stuck for funds like alot of us you can purchase a on/off toggle switch for about $3.00 and replace the switch with the toggle switch. You have to take the tiller cover off to get to the old switch remove it by cutting the wires and attach the 2 wires to each pole on the toggle switch. Once you have the wires attached to the toggle switch turn it on and off to make sure it works and then insert it into the old switch hole tighten the nut to secure it to the cover and put the tiller cover back together. Good luck Hope this helps you
It would depend on what model Compnanion Scooter you have. The latest version has a Delta Tiller and these are designed to be pulled towards you as opposed to being push away. Trust me it is an ergonomic thing. However, if your scooter does not have a Delta Tiller the wiring may be reversed.
The best bet is to call Golden's Technical Service Dept. at
Your authorized Golden Technologies, Inc. dealer can reverse the thumb lever controls so that when you push on the “left” lever, your scooter will move in the forward direction, and pushing on the “right” lever will move your scooter in reverse.
If you don't want to go to a dealer, any mechanic who is willing can make this adjustment for y ou. hope this helps.
Hi, the wiring must loose around the key switch, it might be a case of taking the tiller off and resoldering the wires onto the key switch. It not a major repair , just a case of getting the tiller panel apart and locating the wires to the switch.
