Scanning with I have this above printer. I misplaced the expanded version with instructions for scanning that I obtained off the web. I have been unable to locate the correct website to copy it again. Today Canon told me to go to www.canon technical support.com, but many such sites come up and the few that I have selected are wrong. Please help me. Thank you. Rachel

This is a scam, the text that came with this website, said free technical support. Maybe it should say free technical support if you post it, not implying it is with a technically knowledgeable person.

.I want to know step

Open this link (click here), you'll find all the scanning instructions/tutorials related to your printer.
You'll need to select the tutorials depending on how you would like to scan using your printer. Since there are several ways, scanning with the hp solution center software, scanning from paint, scanning from photoshop, etc..etc.. etc.. I can't make it specific.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I wish to scan documents. Error message appears :

I assume your using a built in button labeled "scan". If so, you must be sure that you have the proper drivers which can be obtained from the HP web-page. In fact, even if you're trying to click scan from within software make sure you have the latest and correct drivers for your printer. On the HP web-site there are resources for your particular printer. Download any software that seems it might be helpful (such as a print management program designed just for your printer). Once you have the correct drivers, if you still have issues, try downloading a free imaging program such as gimp, or googles picassa is great for novices. From within the program, make sure the program recognizes your printer then click scan or capture from device or some similar command that should allow you to scan and edit your picture all from within the software. Again though, driver is key! It can be obtained by going to the official HP website.

How to scan from a 4800 brother

Once the drivers for the printer/scanner are downloaded from Here and installed you can scan a couple of different ways.
First is to use the scanner software (ScanSoft™ PaperPort® LE for Brother) on the original cd. If it is not installed already, install the software from the disk. If you do not have an original disk, you can obtain one from Brother for a fee.
Second is to use a different method/software for scanning. Since the scanner is TWAIN compliant, you can use any software that can import from a TWAIN compliant device. Since it is common,.. you can use Microsoft Word or Publisher (Example: from Word XP - from the top menu, click on Insert - Picture - From Scanner or Camera then select your Brother 4800 from the list)
If you dont have Word or cannot obtain it, you can download and use the latest version of openOffice for free at openoffice.org Here
With either method,.. you will have to make sure the drivers are installed for the printer/scanner.
If you need any further instruction, please comment on this and I will answer your questions

Can't get scanner to scan

Install the software from the CD included in the box.
Be sure to follow instructions for setting up and connecting to your computer, and use the Kodak AiO Home Center software to setup and manage the details of your scans, depending on whether you are scanning pictures or documents, color or black and white, etc.
The User Guide is available at the Kodak web site, if you misplaced yours:
