SOURCE: Domestic oil fired central heating.

many times the feeder tube from the bottom of the tank becomes perforated. the return tube is ok most of the time . try switching the 3 8 tubes from inlet to outlet and see if problem resolved. if so the the tube down into the tank is flawed.

Worcester 24i boiler..how do i re-ignite the pilot light??

Overheat thermostat has tripped. If a modern Worcester need to press reset on control panel.

If older style Worcester - Pull front cover off the boiler (just above control panel flap pull the cover from both sides forward to unclip and then lift upwards to remove cover) and you will see a little brown reset button - press this back down.
However the over heat thermostat trips for a reason - was the system running on low pressure? It could be the pump is sticking a bit (dirt in the system) which can be sorted easily by adding an additive (DIY packs available at Home-base) . Or it could be the pump has completely gone. If this is the case it will trip again as soon as the boiler clicks back on.

Honeywell T403A1174 suddenly doesn't appear to call for heat

some times inside the boiler on the internal pipework you will see little sensors, on the central heating piping there sometimes is a thermastic sensor on side of flow pipe with a little reset button on ? i guess with the problem you said the poiler locked out and the pipe work overheated ? this is a safety feature on some boilers not, all and easerly reset via this button ?

Glow worm combi boiler

check the pilot line for an obstruction. check the millivolt generator that's supposed to keep the pilot valve open. check for a high limit control being bad.
