No Dongle Attached Error Msg

I bought a new laptop with Windows 8. I wrote HSV and they told me the VIP Conversion/Disk Mgr etc software will not work (CD only goes up to XP) and to purchase the new 5 version. With no funds for this I set out to make it work. Working in the "desktop" mode I opened the CD rom and copied all files from it (CTL A) to a folder on my hard drive under the C:\ drive called VIP embroidery exactly as it was before. You can also get a jump drive and copy the very same folder (with all your designs) onto your new Win8 computer. I was able to run the setup.exe file to get all 3 icons on my desktop. Then I went to rainbow.com.my (the people who make the dongle) and downloaded the file Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.7. I saved this on my desktop so I knew where to find it. Then I opened the zip file and ran the executable file. What it installs is a 64bit driver which is what Win8 requires. Even though it says it is only up to Win7 compliant the program ran through fine. I had to reboot my computer. Once I did I attached my dongle and then tried opening each of the 3 programs and it worked. This probably would not work directly if you have just upgraded to another Windows and you previously had the dongle driver -- you would need to use the SSD wipe program mentioned on the HSQ site first.
