KICHLER 15PR600SS I do not have any low voltage 12V, or 13V. 120 VAC has been checked and is going to the primary winding of the low voltage transformer. Is there some internal fuse or breaker? Is there any way I may obtain a schematic dwg of the 15PR600SS so that I can troubleshoot this problem. Is there a service manual available that I can download? Jerry

Here is a link to the specs for that trnsformer. It looks like there is only the switches for each circuit. Dumb question Are the load switches turned on?

This is all the info I could find on it for you. I hope this will help.

I have a kichler 15pl300 where it does not transform from 120 Volts coming and it does not want to send out 12 V on the other side. The 120 volts has confirmed for be live.

I have been unable to locate manual for Kitchler low voltage products.
The troubleshoot page says check on-off switch, and put black tape over photoeye for two minutes, but does not elaborate on what to do.

How to identify the matching transformer terminal by means of terminal resistance? and which terminals is for input or output?

Doing a resistance test on a transformer will not give the information you require as you will read very little, if any resistance. What you need to do is an impedance check and that gets involved. If it is a normally wound transformer, not an auto transformer, you can isolate which is the primary and the secondary windings. Unless the transformer is a multi voltage input unit, the primary side will have continuity through only two terminals. The secondary could be more than two if it is a multi output voltage one. If the transformer is a step down, the primary windings will be the thinner wired windings and vice-versa. To actually test the transformer, get hold of a transformer with about a 20 vac output and try it across the two terminals you have identified as the primary windings, you should ge a proportional voltage of the actual output. eg. with 20 vac input and a 2 vac reading at the secondary, the actual output would be 11 vac if your mains voltage is 110 volts. Take care that you are using the transformer at the voltage it is designed for, otherwise it will overheat and burn out.

I have some outdoor landscape lights that were working fine until a few days ago. The 120 vac power goes into the first transformer, and then out, and into a second, then a third, then a fourth, and...

Hi, to isolate the faulty transformer, one need to obtain a Multimeter and set it to Volts AC, then going to the Output of each transformer & see if there is the required 12V there. The one that's NOT providing an output is the faulty one.
In these setups you are correct there is little else it can be. However check at the connections to the lights also, see if there is Voltage there too.
A transformer will have the 120 V AC on the Primary, INPUT side, and 12 V AC on the Secondary OUTPUT side.
Try testing right on the transformers terminals. Also remove the "Load" too when making measurements as if there is a short etc, then that may give a false reading. Always measure Voltages first with NO load, then test again with the Load, they should both be the same, if NOT then you have a fault NOT in the transformer but elsewhere in the circuit.

Generac 5500XL, model#09778-7 no output. Changed the power regulator board. No luck. Flashed the 120 plug with 12-30vdc from DC board. Nothing. Excited the brushes directly with DC board. Only got 2.36VDC...

Double check your brush istallation. positive side toward rotor bearing, if you put 12 vdc directly into brush pack and check with a meter at the 120 vac outlet and have low or no voltage, you may have no resistance in your rotor slip rings, excitor & main windings also need a resistance check. 12.6-16.7 ohms (rotor) 2.26-2.80 ohms (excitation) .26-.32/.28-.35 main or power windings. Note: unit running when appling 12 volts to brush pack. 2-5 second only, ( This test tells you the rotor & stotor are ok )

Transformers primary winding broken. What the ratio? 230 VAC to ? VAC (10 VAC ??)

For transformers, the voltage to turns raio is calculated by formula:

V1 / N1 = V2 / N2 where,
V1 >> Voltage at primary
N1 >> number of turns at primary winding

V2 >> Output voltage at secondary
N2 >> No. of turns at secondary winding

So in your case:

V1 = 230 and V2 = 10. If you know the no of turns of winding at one side, you can calculate the turns on the other side.

Dimmer Installation

Dimmers should always be connected to line voltage (usually 120 volts). That is, when a dimmer is used to control a low voltage transformer it is always connected between the source of the power and the primary side (the line voltage side; the 120V side) of the transformer; it is never connected to the secondary side (the low voltage side; the 12V or 24V) of the transformer.

Any Whirlpool Microwave Techs out there...Please help a fellow tech

hi mike,

I’m sorry to tell you this but; I wouldn't recommend using a different transformer, even if it's the same size, it could cause serious damage. The HV transformer should only be replaced with the exact replacement part.
