Mo, open the freezer door and look for the model tag. There should be a manufacture date on the tag. The product has a 2 year complete warranty, 5year parts and labor on the sealed system and 5-12 years parts only. The factory number is 800-222-7820 and maybe able to tell you when it was installed, They may walk you through a couple of items to tell you what was happening.

Guanaquito you suggested I spray with water my 690 subzero condenser or with degreser . It won't do the demage to anything if I use water .Thank you . Vacume is not helping but everything else is working...

You can use a chemical degreaser on the condenser, just be sure to unplug the unit and put paper towels down around it to absorb the grease and cleaner, and let it air out well before plugging it back in and turning it on. Water wont help anything if its grease buildup. if your fridge is not cooling, it's most likely some other problem though. it's very rare that a dirty condenser causes cooling issues on a 690 Good Luck!

Hello. My freezer part of my subzero 690 is getting too cold. The temperature has dropped to -8. My normal setting is zero. I tried raising the setting to +5 with no effect. I tried turning the whole...

check u tube for problem solving videos.

There are a number of great troubleshooting u tube videos, which show you what to look for and many of the fixes are really simple and are universal for all fridges. The simplest is that you left a door open, moisture got in and froze causing ice to build up, so you have to thaw it totally, not just turn it off. I moved my older subzero and think one of the tubes must have been knocked and it lost its Freon, so stopped cooling. The cost of having it recharged was so prohibitive (ie environmental disposal issue meant it had to be moved to a special location fixed and moved back at my expense or Subzero said it was a closed unit and you had to replace the whole thing$ 1,300 for the condenser alone) so, I tossed it + bought another used one until my renovation was done.

Generally with any fridge, there seems to be 2 possible Simple reasons:
1. DEFROST MODE PROBLEM it is stuck in defrost mode
. a)the defrosting tube is plugged

b)The tube or thermostat is frozen, most likely because someone left the door open or the seal is poor;

c) termostat defective-untube video explained how to test circuit;
4. CONDENSER ISSUES: the condenser coolant gas is low and can be easily recharged- see the u tube how to video;
5. Condenser is dirty and cannot breathe- vacuum it;
6. The condenser overheated and needs replacing . 4-6 will have the condenser blowing cool not warm air.

I have had this problem with the fridge portion of my SUBZERO bottom freezer and Subzero (and a repair person ) gave me some good advice, which should also apply to yours, but you might want to call them yourself:
1. Simplest fix- if the defrost tube is blocked or frozen, the defrost cycle will stick on preventing cooling (either freezing up or heating for the defrost cycle not cooling); Some subzero models are especially prone to this. I could see part of my tube inside the fridge on the back wall close to the bottom where it drains and removed the panels to expose and clean it;
2. You should pull it out and unplug it to get it to defrost fully. After doing that once, I made sure my fridge was on a separate circuit or switched!! Yours might not be the same, but on mine the tubes run through the fridge to get to the freezer so both parts have to defrost;
3. Subzero fridge and freezer each have their own independent condensers, so you might be hearing the condenser for the fridge running, even though one part is turned off.
4. Check the thermostat to see if it is working. There is a good u tube video on this.
5 Some of the u tube videos show how to "recharge" the Freon. Subzero told me these are sealed units and could not be done, so regardless of the problem, the condenser had to be replaced. The subzero repair person was really helpful + checked the Freon or gas level (Mine was old enough that it was Freon not the newer environmental stuff) so they would have to haul it away to drain and recharge it + then the condenser might still have to be replaced.

Good luck

Joan

Subzero model 532 fridge not cooling well, freezer ok

Did u check condenser on the top behind the grill? If it's clean, check unit for evaporator freon leaking. Light....Possibly bad bulbs behind that plastic light cover or light switch - one of them located on upper portion of door frame.

Compressor area above refrigerator is getting very hot

Hi,

Check Thermostat.
Proper Cleaning/Defrosting of fridge and freezer.
Proper Placing and Distance from wall.
If your hand bear the body temperature of that specific area then its normal.
Contact technician to verify Freon pressure.

Best of Luck,

Subzero 690 flashing EC and service

If you replace the fan and clean the coils, and the refrigerator STILL does not cool, then contact SubZero or a service provider for an evaporator coil replacement.  Units manufacturer before mid-2003 had copper+aluminum coils that would corrode and allow all of the coolant to escape.  The (should be warranty) replacement is all aluminum.
Note the freezer does not have this issue due to the lack of liquid water.

Fridge side not cooling, Freezer side is....

(After trying FixYa and paying for the premium service -- during which error codes were not even discussed) I called a service tech. Turns out it was the fan above the fridge side (which explains why the freezer was still working fine) that was "humming" but not always spinning. A quck swap of the fan and we were back in business.

FYI -- The SubZero tech said it was very uncommon for the fans to go bad.
