I'm afraid your camera is affected by the well known Sony CCD sensor problem - a large number of CCD chips manufactured by Sony between 2002 and 2004 were prone to early failure, due to some problem in the manufacturing process. Sony offered free repair of the affected products (which seem to include your camera), but this offer seems to have ended in 2007. You could of course still call Sony's customer service and ask if the offer has been prolonged.
