Dell Latitude D520 laptop,ethernet STRAIGHT is detected as soon as plug in ethernet socket.
In same socket when I plug "STANDARD CROSS CABLE" it does not detects.
Same cable is tried with different laptops of D630 version.It works fine...Hence there should be no doubt on cable.
Checked all setting such as manual IP,subnet mask etc. My laptop does not work at all.

Your will have to go to dell's website to download the drivers for your model # . Being that your computer does not have an internet connection you will have to us a computer which has internet access. Download & copy drivers to a cd.If you have you orignal dell dell cd's that came with the computer you can use the driver, utilities disk.
