What is the default password for cisco

There are two main methods to return a Cisco router to its original factory defaults. These two methods are described below.
Method 1
1. uses the config-register 0x2102 command in global configuration mode.
2. Check the configuration register on the router by issuing the show version command.
3. The configuration register setting is displayed in the last line of the show version command output and should be set to 0x2102. If this is not the case, enter the config-register 0x2102 command once in global configuration mode.
router#configure terminal
router(config)#config-register 0x2102
router(config)#end
router#
4. If the show version command is issued again, the same line in the command output will have '(will be 0x2102 at next reload)' appended to the current register setting.
5. Erase the current start-up configuration on the router with the write erase command.
Reload the router with the reload command. When prompted to save the configuration, DO NOT save.
router#reload
System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]: n
Proceed with reload? [confirm]
Once the router reloads, the System Configuration Dialog appears.
--- System Configuration Dialog ---
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:
The router is now reset to the original factory defaults.
Method 2
1. uses the config-register 0x2142 command in global configuration mode.
2. Enter the config-register 0x2142 command in global configuration mode.
router(config)#config-register 0x2142
This causes the router to ignore the start-up configuration on the next reload. If a show version is issued, the last line in the command output will have '(will be 0x2142 at next reload)' appended to the current configuration register setting.
3. Reload the router using the reload command in enable mode. It is not necessary to save when prompted to save the system configuration.
router#reload
System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]: n
Proceed with reload? [confirm]
After the router has reloaded, the System Configuration Dialog appears.
4. Enter no to the question "Would you like to enter initial configuration dialog?"
5. Change the configuration register setting to 0x2102 by entering the config-register 0x2102 command once in global configuration mode.
6. Issue the write memory command in enable mode to overwrite the existing start-up configuration with the current running configuration.
7. Reload the router with the reload command in enable mode.
Once the router reloads, the System configuration Dialog appears.
--- System Configuration Dialog ---
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:
The router is now reset to the original factory defaults.
Note: The configurations below are stored in ROMMON, and cannot be reset to Factory Default Settings by the write erase or config-register 0x2142 commands.

Cannot connect to 192.168.0.1

How you connect to the router configuration page is depended upon how you have your router management configured. I believe by default belkin routers allow for remote configuration so if you didn't configure any security on your router someone may have altered your configuration.
The default method for configuring your router requires.
  • An ethernet cable plugged from your computer to a LAN port on the router
  • The correct Gateway address (Start > Run > Type "CMD" at the command prompt type "ipconfig" look at your gateway address
  • In a web browser type in http://192.168.0.1 in this example
If you still can't access it I'd suggest pressing the reset button on the back of the router and re-configure the router in case of tampering.
Comment if you need any further assistance

Netgear WGR814v2 does not see my ASUS 1005HA-P netbook, but the netbook sees the the Netgear wireless network but cannot connect .

To connect into your own Netgear router, you need to configure the wireless card with your router's wireless configuration settings, eg.the SSID and encryption settings. Check your router manual on how to configure the router or go to the Netgear WEB site to download this info.
To configure the Netgear router for wireless you need to connect a LAN cable from the laptop to the router and run your browser with the configuration IP address. for Netgear type the URL address ;-
http://192.168.0.1
the login = admin PW = password
Then configure the SSID and encryption, record this info so you can configure the wireless card with the same settings.

You can also connect to the Internet by using a LAN cable and plug it into the Netgear router without a wireless connection.

Configuring the BEFW11S4 for the first time

To configure your router to share your Internet service, please follow the steps below: 1. Check with your Internet Service Provider to make sure that service is active. You usually can determine a good link to the service if you can bypass the BEFW11S4, plug directly into the ISP modem unit, and get a good connection. 2. While plugged into your provider?s modem and able to get online, run the bundled Router Setup Wizard CD-ROM program that came with your router. This will configure the router automatically for you. 3. If the Setup Wizard CD-ROM from Step 2 fails to configure your router, you may need a manual configuration. While plugged into the provider modem unit and able to get online (Step 1), visit http://kb.linksys.com, and search for the name of your Internet service provider for detailed instructions on manual configurations. 4. Once one computer is able to access the Internet through the router, the router will then be configured. Other machines can now connect to the router without re-configuring it a second time. 5. If you are still having difficulties setting up your router, please contact Linksys Technical Support so that we may further assist you.
