Breville Hot Cup spitting:
Hi Louise.
My HAZ upright kettle did the same thing recently.
Sounds like your element-tube has a rust-hole, which allowed water to enter the normally dry and cozy filament area. The water that seeps inside hits the red-hot filament, vaporises to steam which violently expands out of the pinhole.
Remove element, check for corrosion, renew.
Hope this helps. Clive.
Tried customer support on 0161 652 1211 who said replacements are no longer available. You can use the kettle without the filter but the auto-stop feature is likely not to work so don't leave it unattended.
Send them model number
PDC code (on bottom of kettle)
your name and address
where and when device was purchased
They can send you a part or send you a FEDEX label for a warranty repair.
There is no do it yourself fix for this problem. However, placing a folded cloth on top of the kettle (covering the spout) will cause it to switch off quicker, as it increases the pressure inside the kettle.
