Where can i open those ports, remote assistance sure wont start at all
The way to access your routers options to allow access to ports and other configurations can be done by opening an explorer window.
You then type in the address of your network to access the page. Typically you will know this from the documentation when you set it up, or if you manually changed it. Most commonly it should be 192.0.0.1 or something like that if set as default.
Oh by the way I forgot to add that the port you need to open up, or forward through the NAT firewall is 3389 using windows XP. On Vista its a bit different, remote assistance uses the ports 49152-65535 randomly. Therefore it may be necessary to open that port range, or just put your computers IP address into the DMZ or demilitarized zone. For obvious reasons on Vista if you open that many ports or leave your computer in the DMZ you are opening yourself up to attacks from any hackers. So after your remote session is done, I would suggest undoing the port changes or remove your IP from the DMZ of the router.
