I have a older Kithchenaid Dishwasher Model# KUDB220T0,Serial# FE93198827 that developed a bad odor and I then noticed standing water in the bottom well. Upon investigation the "screen" was coated/blocked with food remnants even though plates get scraped before loading. I cleaned the screen and used a "orange/citrus" drain and disposal cleaner in it. It appeared to have fixed the odor problem, but the machine doesn't fully pump out the shallow well around the now clean screen(unless I rototate the manual cycle knob/timer to the end of a cycle again to start the pump, then it empties the machine). The smell also returns if I don't get the machine empty. I suspect due to the age that the timer may be ending the "pump" potion of the cycle too soon. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jay
Hi Jay. Remove the lower front panel and you will see the drain hose. On the machine end of the drain hose is a small drain pump. Disconnect the hose and the pump and you will most likely find a partial blockage in the form of a piece of glass or something preventing a total drain.

Thanks For the advice,BUT I did remove the kick panel and disconnected the drain hose and check valve. There was no blockage and only very slight "scum" inside the hose. I am able to look down the sink drain and see the drain water being pumped out with decent force, but the machine just doesn't fully drain on its own, always leaves a inch or 2 in the bottom of the well, unless I manuall turn the knob back to the end of a cycle again to restart the drain pump.
