If there is no fans spinning or nothing, check the adapter to see if it has malfunctioned.

It is possible that the transformer that converts the voltage from what the adapter puts out, to what the laptop uses, doesn't work at all. This piece is supposed to regulate the proper voltage to the laptop.

Take it in for repair if it is under warranty

Look up the voltage acceptable for a HP  6715b laptop in the manual  that came with it. Go to Radio Shack and buy a $9.00 Grounded Adapter Plug. Be sure you take the HP power cord.

You just need a plug adapter kit, the AC adapter is dual voltage and auto sensing.
