put the bike in while the trainer is opened. tighten the bolts around the skewer. that should be straight forward... good luck

I don't see a skewer supplied with the trainer. If the mechanisms for securing the bike axle are intact you can use your original skewers. I'd look at how well they mate before committing though, especially if your skewer is after-market or proprietary design. The old school chrome skewer with a rounded head is the best. The first one shown here is the universal design.
