I need to replace the plastic door insert and hardboard cover in rear doors
I would give these ford guys a call. I have bought a lots of interesting items from them and they have provided great customer service and researched the proper ford parts for me.

Much better explanation Clint. I have looked pretty extensively but couldn't find anything on the web specifically for door wiring diagram. Do you have the new harness yet? Given today's manufacturing practices, you will likely receive a modular component that will likely be readily apparent on the connections - hopefully snap in connectors that will only go in one way. When you get the part it should be apparent. Other than that the issue will likely be getting access to where the connections are and that will mostly be an interior panel exercise. Not many Freestar maintenance vids on utube. Is the Freestar similar to the Windstar? Sometimes different but similar models can be the key to getting the info.
Good luck!
Testimonial: "Thanks mbarre for your input. Yes the wire harness with included plastic wire guide chain is on order and I should possibly get it this coming week. As you were saying and hopefully true that there will be a descriptive diagram that will explain how to install it. My message to all who own a mini van especially Ford Freestar, (do not wash it when the temperature is low because there's a good chance that the guide chain will get wet and freeze so that when you open your door it will break like mine did. They are very costly to replace if you can even find one especially fords because ford doesn't make the mini van any more and are running low on replacement ones. And No; the Windstar has contact points that makes a connection when the door is closed, and the freestar has the wire harness that moves back and forth as the door opens and closes."
