Hello, I have a tamron xr-di 28-300mm lense. In

Hello, I have a tamron xr-di 28-300mm lense. In the last week I keep getting the error that the contacts between the lense and camera need to be cleaned, and then it displays ERR 01. We tried to clean the contacts but still get the message. I need help getting this problem fixed. My old tamron lense works just fine on my canon, and the new tamron lense is giving me error messages on my old canon, so I beleive it is the lense that needs to be repaired. Thank you, Lisa

Thank you, I'll look for a local technician and make sure they check the flexible printed curcuit connector inside the lense. Lisa

Hi Lisa,

ERR 01 is commonly displayed when there is some contact problem between the lens and camera body. You said that you have already cleaned the lens and camera contacts and that the older lens is working fine. So, it may be either due to some internal problem in the lens (mostly the flexible printed circuit connector inside the lens is broken) or that there is some alignment problem between the lens and the camera body (which is very rare and less likely in this case).

We would advise you to get the lens repaired by a qualified service technician.

Hope this solves your problem. Best of Luck.
Thanks.

Alan, Does one of the lenses have a solar or polarized filter on it?  It sounds basic but it would alter the type of light brought into the camera, that is a nice lens.  Are you shooting the smae F-stop for both side by side photos?  The 70-210 is a 3.5 or 5.6 right? Just a thought. randy320sgi

Tamron 28-300mm lens

Many zoom lenses of this length, and even shorter have the problem whereby the lens either extends or retracts under its own weight depending on whether the camera is pointing up or down. I had a Canon 28-105mm lens with this problem. More expensive lenses have zoom locks to prevent this from happening. $225 sound like a good price to me!
