The back light is out, how to turn it on?
.Check your monitor brightness setting. Occasionally, the monitor brightness can get accidentally turned all the way down. This will result in a completely dark laptop screen that appears to lack a backlight. Adjust the monitor brightness via the dedicated brightness keys at the very top of your laptop's keyboard.
.Toggle the backlight back on via the keyboard. This is accomplished by using the "Function" key, which lies near the bottom left of your laptop keyboard and is marked "Fn." When pressed in conjunction with one of the "Fx" keys on the top row of your keyboard, you can toggle the backlight on and off automatically. There is an "F1" key, an "F2", and so on. The exact key to press simultaneously with your "Fn" key will vary by laptop model, so consult your computer's user manual. You may have accidentally toggled the backlight off and simply need to toggle it back on via this key function.
.Prepare to operate on your laptop if you cannot toggle the backlight back on. Shut down the laptop. Disconnect the AC adapter cord from the back of the computer, then close the display and turn over the computer.
.Remove the battery. The battery on most computers is at the top of the laptop's underside, although some computers may feature the battery in a bottom corner. The horizontal outline of the battery will be clearly visible all the same. Beside or just beneath the battery will be a battery-release latch. Slide this to disengage the battery.
.Turn the laptop back over. Open the display.
.Observe the bezel, which is the perimeter that runs around the display. There will be a number of rubber caps that exist on the bezel. The exact number will vary by laptop model. Use the tip of a flat-head screwdriver to pry under the caps and pop them off.
.Remove the screws under the laptop bezel's caps with your Phillips screwdriver.
.Work around the bezel's perimeter with your fingers and pry the bezel completely off.
.Look at the bottom of the monitor assembly. A thin inverter board will span horizontally across the screen's bottom. There is a connector on either end of the inverter board. If the right cable is loose from the right connector, lift up on the connector and slide the cable back in. This will restore the laptop's backlight.
.Replace the bezel and the bezel's screws. Reinsert the battery and power on the laptop.
