SOURCE: My Power head on my Dyson Animal DC39 will not stay spinning. Suction Issue?

There should be a red insert on the right-hand side on the cylindrical bulge behind the brush cylinder. Check that this is moving when you push the button. The red insert should stay pushed in for the brush to rotate. The insert moves in an out as well as rotates in order to lock in the 'in' position. Mine is a little sticky on the rotation and I need to shake the brush head a little in order to get it to rotate and lock.

Dyson dc17 clogging hose near brush, no dirt going into cyclone canister.

all battery vacs work on the same principle
so you have to clean out the hose behind the brush right up to the canister.
Hoover air stick has the same problem so they changed the head so that a removable section can be taken out the hose pulled up and a bottle brush can be used to clean out the hose to the canister and behind the brush
You will have to clean out behind the brush up to the canister to fix the problem

Have a Dyson v6 for several months. Roller brush stops turning a soon as I start to push forward after staring trigger. Examined & cleaned roller & surrounding head & find no objects interfering.

The Dyson V6 has an electric motor in the power head. The battery is in the handle unit. So power has to get from the battery head unit down to the motor at the floor roller brush. The way they do this is to send the power around the plastic debris cup that you empty, and then into the connector for the tube and out the bottom of the tube to the roller brush motor. Your problem is probably that there is a lost contact along the way. Try plugging the roller brush directly into the head unit leaving the tube out and see if it is intermittent or if it runs fine. In that case the problem is one of the contacts associated with the down tube. If the roller brush is intermittent even when plugged directly into the head unit, then the problem may be the connection associated with the debris cup. remove the cup and make sure the contacts are clean. Hope this helps. G

Brush on a Dyson DC35 stops rotating. I cleared it of any debris, cleaned off the roller, no obstructions in the tube, and it kept doing it.

I have twice had this intermittent problem of the spinning brush in the Dyson DC35 motorised head starting then stopping after a few seconds, and in both cases it was because of hair getting into the machinery behind the cog that drives the brush bar. It's fairly easy to fix (the only specialised tool required is a small torx-head screwdriver), and I wrote an illustrated step-by-step guide at:

How do I remove the dyson dc28 brush bar

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC28's on/off button will flash to indicate an issue with your machine - it will also shut the brush bar off for protection. To check the cleaner head and brush bar for any issues, please follow the steps shown in our video guide. It's important to ensure there are no obstructions in the cleaner head, and that the brush bar is free of any threads or hair:

Once you've done this, you should find the issue is resolved. It's important to note the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

If you continue to have difficulty after giving this a try, please contact us directly so we can provide further assistance. DC28's cleaner head is a complex assembly and the brush bar isn't designed to be removed by the user. Attempting to repair it could cause damage, and may void any remaining Dyson warranty coverage on your machine.

You can reach the Dyson Support team by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

The main brush head on my Dyson Digital Slim will stop turning during vacuuming. I let out on the power trigger, push back in and the brush head will work for a bit and then stop again. My digital slim is...

It's probably due to a build-up of dirt/hair around the brush head or a blockage in the suction head just behind the brush (where the hole is smaller and bends slightly before entering the extension tube. Remove the brush from the head of the machine and also the extension tube between the head and the top of the machine and then gently clear the rectangular hole in the brush compartment with something flexible (maybe a piece of wire or a pipe-cleaner) depending on how bad the blockage is. Then remove any hair/strands which may be wrapped around the brush, and any dust in the brush compartment. It may also be a opportune time to wash out the filter which is located just in front of the handle on the upper part of the machine. Leave the filter to dry completely before refitting (in an airing cupboard or near a radiator - may take some hours)

      No reset button for brushes

      Hi there,

To locate the reset button on your DC24, please check the left-hand side of the cleaner head when the machine is facing you. It's set within a red recess - the video below may help.

If you're sure there is no reset button on the cleaner head, you may have a different Dyson upright. Please visit www.dyson.com and click 'Support' to identify your machine from the list. Our online Support guides should then be useful in resolving your issue.

Alternatively, we'll be happy to confirm which machine you own, and run you through the correct reset process, if you give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). Please have the machine to hand when you call.
