Horizontal rolling solution need more info

SOLUTION: step 1: make sure there is no dvd in the dvd player before you start fixing the problem. Step 2: Press the "setup" button on the remote. Step 3: Once you have removed the dvd from the dvd player it should allow you to go to "preferences" in the setup menu. So do that. Step 4: Go to "TV TYPE" and make sure it's on NTSC. And then exit setup by pressing the setup button once again. And it should work.
NEED MORE HELP: Hi, I'm having this same horizontal rolling problem. When I tried using the remote to fix it, I couldn't tell where to arrow down or across because I can't read the screen while it's rolling. Could you detail the steps so I can do it blind?

Either you should check the manual for the menu navigation to scroll blind or use the composite (rca) outputs of the player first then connect to your the composite input of your tv so you can see the instructions on the tv with out setting it to NTSC or Pal. Then after successfully setting the tv mode, you can reconnect the RGB video out cables...

I have bought a DVD player - Philips DVP3336. Can you help with the all -region code please?

Hello - I don't have this player but my people tell me this user hack works:

  • Step 1 : Switch the DVD player to Power On & the TV also.
  • Step 2 : Press "Setup" key on the DVD remote
  • Step 3 : Scroll down & select "Preferences"
  • Step 4 : Press the following number : "138931" from the DVD remote keys
  • Step 5 : Region code will appear. Scroll up or down & select "0" (Zero)
  • Step 6 : After selecting "0" Press "OK" or "Enter"

The player should now be region free & capable of playing discs from all regions.

The one caveat is that if you have a different firmware version this hole might have been closed. It's easy enough to try and can't damage anything.

Enjoy (hopefully) your new world of DVD's.

Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Pioneer DV 310 K region free

Step 1) Download the pioneer firmware here http://www.pioneerfaq.info/index.php?question=Firmwares

The site says the firmware only works on region 2 players. For this model it worked for my region 4 player in Australia

Step 2) Burn this file to a CD-ROM with name PIONEER as per these instructions - http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/burn_guide.php

Step 3) Load the CD and your DVD player with ask you to flash the firmware. It says press play to start but instead HOLD DOWN ENTER during the entire process. DO NOT switch off your DVD during this time. When the tray opens take the CD ROM out but keep the DVD on. The flashing can take up two to three minutes. During this time HOLD DOWN ENTER ON THE REMOTE. The entire time!

Step 4) The DVD player will reboot. The tray should be empty. It will then load the tray back into the player. If the signal is disorted switch on and off.

Your done! Should work.

The most complex way of region freeing a DVD I have ever endured! :)

Picture rolling when I play DVDs

I used to have that same problem with my system. Fortunately for me, I still had the instruction booklets at the time so that helped me to figure it out. step 1: make sure there is no dvd in the dvd player before you start fixing the problem. That's how it worked with my system at least. It seemed to switch the tv type by itself from NTSC to PAL which must be a flaw in the system. I thought I was the only one with that problem. Well, I hope that helped you at all. Have a good day.
