On-screen Menu I have a Mintek DTV-265 26" flat screen digital TV. I recently subscribed to DirecTV and it works fine; however, since it was installed I have not been able to access the on-screen menu and cannot use the manual control buttons for the TV nor the DVD. There is a disc in the DVD player and cannot be removed by pressing the Eject button. How can I revive the on-screen menu and resume control of the manual button commands?

With the other Mintek remote that is still intact first try to change the channel on the smaller Mintek television. Usually the remotes have a . or - in order to accommodate analog or digital channels. So directv is usually channel 3.0/3-0 or channel 60.0/60-0 or sometimes another channel as advised by direct tv. Try pressing 03 first or 60/61/whatever channel you are supposed to be on. If that doesn't work try 3.0/3-1 and then the enter/ok key. Try the channel up and down button as well.

Try a code search, the method should be in the manual. If you can't get that to work then it's not possible to use the DirecTV remote.

If that's the case then get a learning remote.

You will not be able to record local station from a DTV converter connected thru a directv receiver unless there is a a/v input on the directv samsung receiver. Also check the user manual for this receiver if recording from an external source such as a DTV converter box is possible. The answer to seperating the DTV converter box from the directv samsung receiver is possible if your tv has multiple inputs. Try connecting the DTV box to the RF input and the directv samsung box to an a/v input then change inputs using the tv remote. you will need an av cable (yellow/ red/white) for the directv box and a rf jumper cable for the DTV box.

not without a subscription to Directv. after it enters the box it is basicly a Directv signal, it has to show up on the program guide.
