Machine grinds but doesn't brew

It sounds like the brew unit might need to be serviced or replaced. The funnel not lining up properly could indicate a problem with the alignment mechanism or the gears that control the movement of the brew unit. You can try cleaning the inside of the brew unit, checking for any obstructions or damaged parts, and reassembling it carefully to ensure everything is properly aligned. This tells me that either the grind is too fine and or the brew unit screen, and discharge tube needs to be cleaned. Try this first press the button for making a espresso using the manual function, do not add coffee through the door then press the brew button. If water flows freely then the grind is too fine, if you get the water prime error then the screen under the red o-ring on the brew unit needs to be cleaned.

Try to set the machine to grind finer. Common problem with this machine when the grinder grinds too coarse, and the coffee will not fit in the brew unit during the cycle. Grinding finer will allow the brew unit to compress and the machine should complete the cycle.

Try adjusting the grinder coarser when it is running. Either the grind is too fine or the grinds chamber is blocked, remove the brew unit and check the gate to the grinder on the inside right.

First clean the screen and tube on the brew unit, then lube the guides/gear grooves on the brew unit, also lube the o-ring(big red one). Then that should take care of it. You can also try backwashing/degreasing the brew unit if the machine has a preground chute.

Remove the brew unit and check the shower screen under the red o-ring, it might be blocked.

make sure you use very dry non-oily coffee beans

Two questions:
1- Is the coffee grounds wet or dry?
2- Does the spout drip water when the machine is just heating up?
If the grounds are dry then the brew chamber is not getting any water. Turn machine off, let it cool down, then remove brew unit. Behind the brew unit there is a white valve with 2 red o-rings(sometimes black), if you look closely there is a small lever between the o-rings, get a small screwdriver and gently lift lever and spring, if water came out then the problem is in the brew unit, unscrew the stainless steel screen which is under the large red O-ring on the brew unit and clean, also make sure the tube on the unit is clear.
If the hot water spout is not dripping when the machine is heating up then you're good.

Hi The thumb screw on the brew unit is stripped. If you remove the brew unit and you have water where the thumb screw is its stripped. you just need to remove the old one and replace it.

Sounds like dosage is too high and grind is too fine.

Rule of thumb with any saeco unit.

Do not grind any finer then 2 or your looking for trouble.

Open grinder, clean it out with a vac. Slapped it back on.

The reason it stops is grind is too fine, and the machine doesn't have enough pressure to pass threw the grinds, creates back pressure in the machine and the unit failsafes after a certain amount of time with and pressure.

Back pressure is what blew your boiler.
