Have you checked all the fuses? they are marked as: F-1, F-2 etc.
also do you hear a soft click of the startup relay?
Please let me know

hi,all fuses are ok,you can hear the click of one relay on start up followed a second relay trying to click in but will not latch on,on a similiar tv a green led below the psu board is on constantly after start up,on the problem tv it just keeps flashing,as before the psu is new, thought if the screen was dead the sound may still work ?

  • Anonymous Jul 22, 2010

all fuses ok and the psu is new,can hear one relay latching and a second one trying to latch,on an identical tv there is a green led on permantly after start up on the problem tv it just keeps flashing ?

if the second relay is not latching the contact points could be burned or, the voltage to that relay could be too low. as I recall you have replaced your power supply board. what is the circuit board part # of your power supply? is it the... APS-219 Main Power Supply board 3501Q00200A?
Do you know how to measure voltage with a multimeter; oscilloscope? please advise

  • Anonymous Jul 23, 2010

hi,yes the psu was replaced with a new one and had the new one tested prior to fitting, the old one is out for repair,no problem using multimeter or oscilloscope, this is where things get messy, the tv is a hisense and all internal componets are samsung (not too unusual) but the psu is supplied by matsui stamped with the samsung part numbers, all the numbers on the board are as follows samsung v4c,pcb rev 0.13,sdi date 050809,code lj44-00092c,no other details are on the board, the new psu supplied has all the same part numbers as the old one, removed the covers on the 2 relays and the contacts look find, this all started out with the tv giving a large "pop" and the picture and sound going leaving only the stand by light on in the red color, any more help would be great, cheers.

this means: manuacturer: samsung version: 4-c pcb: printed circuit board: rev: revision # 0.13
sdi: serial digital interface date: date of manufacture May 08 2009 code: LJ: location Japan

A "pop" you say? check all the silver radial lead metal can capacitors: they have a flat top that is creased; when they fail they "pop" and, the top bulges and, sometimes leak yellow-gold liquid that quickly dries. check all the boards please.
let me know what you find.

  • Anonymous Jul 23, 2010

hi,thank you for your help, had a look at the psu on the uk website and it looks identical to the two i have,as for the popped capacitors could not find any evidence of any damage to any, have removed the covers of the 2 start up relays on the old psu with not much sign of any arcing or burning, will replace the old board with the covers off the relays and see if anything comes to light, not expecting much but in the mean time if you have any more suggestions i would be grateful.

please check all output voltages on your psu: power supply unit(s) (do you have the schematics for your set?) with only the ac wall plug to the psu cord connected and, listen for the relays please give me your tv model and, manufacturer info and, I'll see if I can find your schematics if you do not have them.

good morning, thanks for the quick reply, the tv is a 106cm display make hisense phd 4217 eu,i do not have any electrical drawings, have connected both boards to ac power with no outputs connected and on either board neither relay tries to activate, may be its only fit for the trash ?

  • Anonymous Jul 24, 2010

hello, downloaded the drawings from that web site, checked both boards on the tv with the covers off the start up relays,rl 2015 and rl 2025,when the ac power is turned on relay 2015 latches briefly and then de-latches,the other relay does nothing, both relays on the new board are in perfect condition,if you have any more ideas it would be great,if all else fails i will leave it in for repair, thanks for all your help.

trace the voltages back from the relay that is not staying latched. you have a weak voltage regulator, in the power supply maybe two, preventing the relays from staying latched.

  • Anonymous Jul 26, 2010

hi,traced back the relays to the voltage regulators and found a hot joint which i re-soldered and now both relays are getting full ac voltage, now the both try to latch and then de-latch,the stand-by light on the front is now purple which according to the service manual means a software upgrade thru a pc,is this possible ?,thank,s.

yes; if your TV has either a usb port or, a computer VGA monitor port Hisense can upgrade your software by: "flashing" your TV remotely or, send you the video driver software on a disk.
if you flash: you place the thumbdrive the give you into the TV and, follow their directions exactly.
if you disk they will send you or, download a driver you "burn" then upload into your TV through the VGA port; I say burn to a DVD so you will always have a copy.
contact their support for assistance on how to do this.

Hisense 42in plasma flashing blue/green pixels after 30 mins

Do a master reset
1. unplug the TV from the wall
2. remove the batteries from the remote
3. wait 24 hrs
4. plug TV into the wall socket
5. install batteries in remote
6. hold power on button for minimum 10 seconds
This was given to me by the Hisense service line and worked for my TV.
