Older machine needs repair

The youth group at our church has inherited an Astoria Model SAE/1N/JUN it will steam the milk but it will not work for the espresso. Also, it always registers that it has pressure in the espresso side even when it is turned off. Is there a manual we can get so we can check into what’s wrong, or how can we deal with a machine that is so old on a limited budget?

When you press the dispense button does the needle on the dispensing pressure gauge move up to the green area? If so, most likely your group head solenoid valve is bad. It's located behind the back splash. It's a small black box connected to a metal tube just behind the group head. They cost around $70.

If the needle doesn't move it could either be your pump or motor. Now you're in the $200 range.

I have an Astoria Divina SAE-1 Espresso Machine and the steam is too hot to properly steam milk... The milk has too many bubbles as well.. How do i adjust it?

It is supposed to be like that. You are supposed to steam the milk in a jug with a thermometer in it. The milk is supposed to mix and the bubbles for a tight layer on top.

The actual temperature should be between 120 °F / 49 °C and 140 °F / 60 °C. Milk that is steamed at a lower, steady temperature will have a richer, sweeter flavor profile. If you overheat the milk, it will taste burned, because you've essentially denatured the proteins, preventing foaming and scalding the milk.

Gloria two group Astoria was shooting steam the other morning we turned it off what could this be from?

Where is the steam coming from, if its from the top, then the problem is the vent valve or the safety valve, if it is the safety then the pressure stat needs to be replaced because it might be damaged or blocked at the tube that connects it to the boiler.

Steam smells odd and affects milk taste.

The boiler is contaminated with milk and needs to be descaled and cleaned.

We Have an Astoria SAE 2 Group and am looking to find the NSF label location on the machine. If i can't find that, how can I show health dept that it is NSF certified ?

On the right side of the machine next to the serial number is the most likely spot for the NSF sticker or tag depending on the model of the machine it may only have an ETL listing.

Will not dispense water

If you're pump is working and your needle shows around 9 bars when running, most likely your Solenoid valve is bad. This can be caused from improper backflushing among other things.

We stock them ($60). Email me at [email protected] with your contact information or from our website www.kaldi.com

ASTORIA.. PREVENTIVE MAINTENCE SERVICE ? STUART FL OR REPAIR SHOP

The most that you need for PM on you machine is group gaskets every 4-6 months, those are very easy to do. A vent valve every now and then and maybe lubing steam valve swivels. If its Ok with you I will send you my e-mail and if you have any questions you can write me or post on this site. I'm on every couple of days.
