I recieved a defective strap with the xbox 360 guitar hero guitar. The store I bought it from suggested I contact you for a replacement.

Even though you console is able to read your other discs, the reason it isn't reading Guitar Hero 5 is a console problem. Some games read differently than others, the only thing I can suggest is to clean out the dust from inside the Xbox by spraying a can of compressed air into it. Otherwise you may need to contact technical support.

Are other games working correctly in your Xbox 360?

Is this a brand new disk? or did you buy used?
if used, check for major scratching on the disk. If scratched heavily you can try to buff out scratches with a lint free cloth, I have also heard that toothpaste could be used for buffing out scratches, but I would only try this as a last resort.

If other games work fine in your Xbox, it's probably the disk. Make sure you have the XBOX version of the game (and didnt accidentally grab the PS3 game instead or something)

If it is the right version of the game and brand new and not working, call Activision and tell them you have a bad disk, if it's brand new I can't see how they wouldn't replace it. Or just return it to the store.

Maybe the disk is scratched. Contact Activision they may replace the game.

If still the problem exists you can try changing the channel and bandwidth of your wireless network , For this contact your router manufacturer ...

Guitar for rock band does not work with guitar hero :) I found that out the hard way as well.

Have your synchronized the controller to the xbox? To do this, there is a button on the front of the xbox and one usually on the bottom of the guitar hero controller. hold both of these buttons, the lights will circle then when its synced they should stop and resume being player indicators. If this doesn't work, return the guitar to the shop you bought it from.

The guitar syncs the same was a regular controller does.

There's a tiny sync button near the XBox button on the guitar. Press that, and then the sync button on your Console.

Look on the box that will tell you who the manufacturere is, it isn't Microsoft..... If you just bought it take it back for a refund..

The manufacturer is activision...

Did you sync your guitar and drums first? They are just like a normal xbox 360 wireless controller, you need to sync them.
