Continuous RA motion

This is a non GPS LX-200. On power up unit spins slowly in RA and will never stop. New keep alive battery does not help. Keypad works normally. Any ideas? Scope sat idle for several years.

Does your Garmin Nuvi 200 or 200W Freeze at Loading Maps?
Does it lock up or stop working?

This tip will describe how to perform a hard reset of the device, and how to backup your 'Favorites' in case the hard reset erases them. The next step in fixing your Nuvi when it doesn't start properly is to update its system software using Garmin WebUpdater.

A hard reset (or Clear All User Data) has been known to resolve unit quirks and strange behavior. It's generally recommended to perform it after a firmware update but is not required by any means. However, if you're seeing quirks and strange behavior with your unit after the firmware update, it is a good idea to do a hard reset of the unit.

Backup and Restoration Procedure for Favorites:

The Hard Reset procedure has been known to delete your Favorites, so back them up beforehand.

  1. From the Nuvi drive, copy '/Garmin/GPX/current.gpx' to a backup location on your computer.
  2. After the hard reset, copy your backed up 'current.gpx' from your computer back to the '/Garmin/GPX/' folder on the Nuvi, but be sure to rename it 'temp.gpx'.
  3. On the next power cycle, the Favorites will be read from 'temp.gpx' into the non-user accessible memory area on the Nuvi where they are actually stored.
Perform the Hard Reset:

*Note that this will clear all user selected settings on the unit

  1. Power the unit off.
  2. Remove the battery and wait several minutes.
  3. Install the battery.
  4. Press and hold (and continue to hold) the bottom-right corner of the screen while powering the unit on.
  5. Continue to hold the screen until the "Do you want to erase all user data?" prompt appears.
  6. Press "yes" and the unit will reboot. This resets all your location settings and user preferences.

If possible after the hard reset, let the unit sit outdoors in the open for about 30 minutes or so to let the unit re-acquire the satellite almanac data.

You have now performed a hard reset of your Garmin Nuvi 200 and 205 series GPS unit.

I hope that helps.

New battery charged and it only runs a few mins and stops, what causes this

Hi,
a fully charged or a new alkaline battery should power a remote for several hours non stop, if your's discharges in minutes either the battery cell is suspect or the charger or there is an undue load on the output. Try a new non rechargeable alkaline battery, if this behaves in the same way you have a fault on the handset, especially if the battery becomes warm during its short period of use. You could "pop" the handset open and check for liquid ingress around the keypad which could cause continuous operation, but the life span would suggest a greater drain than I would expect from this type of cause.

How to stop continuous beeping by Philips se445 phone

Some cordless phones will give non stop beeps to indicate that the battery reached its lifespan and can no longer get fully charged. replace battery. If battery is okay, check for sticky key on keypad? You'll be surprise how often the keys you press get stuck in its seat - same thing happens to computer keyboards then the computer beeeeeeps and the user has no idea why. Always keep all phones off your desk when you having your coffee :) Can turn into a sticky mess if you spill :) You can clean your phone keypad with a quck dry solution available at computer shops as it is also used to clean between the keys of the computer keyboard. its called the "All purpose computer cleaning spray"

Hope this helps

How to clear code 118 and 224 on 1994 ranger

Ford Ranger/Explorer/Mountaineer 1991-1999
Clearing Codes

Print

CONTINUOUS MEMORY CODES

These codes are retained in memory for 40 warm-up cycles. To clear the codes for the purposes of testing or confirming repair, perform the code reading procedure. When the fault codes begin to be displayed, de-activate the test by either disconnecting the jumper wire (meter, MIL or message center) or releasing the test button on the hand scanner. Stopping the test during code transmission will erase the Continuous Memory. Do not disconnect the negative battery cable to clear these codes; the Keep Alive memory will be cleared and a new code, 19, will be stored for loss of PCM power.

KEEP ALIVE MEMORY

The Keep Alive Memory (KAM) contains the adaptive factors used by the processor to compensate for component tolerances and wear. It should not be routinely cleared during diagnosis. If an emissions related part is replaced during repair, the KAM must be cleared. Failure to clear the KAM may cause severe driveability problems since the correction factor for the old component will be applied to the new component.
To clear the Keep Alive Memory, disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 5 minutes. After the memory is cleared and the battery reconnected, the vehicle must be driven at least 10 miles so that the processor may relearn the needed correction factors. The distance to be driven depends on the engine and vehicle, but all drives should include steady-throttle cruise on open roads. Certain driveability problems may be noted during the drive because the adaptive factors are not yet functioning

I have a Lynx system with a 5828 wireless keypad that I have connected a 5v transformer to it to keep the keypad lit always. The keypad does not stay lit always and it keeps going to sleep after 10...

It sounds like your 5V transformer isn't working. It could be the outlet it is plugged into isn't working, or the outlet is on a light switch that is turned off, or there is a problem with the keypad itself. The user manual says:

"AC-Powered Operation: When powered by the
optional AC adapter, the keypad remains active at all
times. If AC power is lost, the keypad reverts to
battery-powered operation until AC power is restored
On AC powered units you can get the status by viewing
the display."

The only way I know of to keep it active is by using the transformer.

Hope this helps.
