I lost a pair of Winchester VDT 1042 field glasses about 8 years ago. found them today in the pasture. They appear to have condensation in them. what can I do to get it fixed and how much?

Hello, Raymond -

Congratulations on finding your field glasses. I checked the Winchester.com web site to see if they offered repair services for their field glasses / binoculars. I did not find that they manufactured field glasses . . . meaning they are probably not providing repair services, either. I assume you are in the USA.

I did find a business located in suburban Chicago, Illinois, Elk Grove Village. Among many things they repair they state they repair "optics", including binoculars. I suggest you call this company and ask about repairing your field glasses:

I am having CANON Camera SURE SHOT 80 Tele. Whenever i start camera there is one msg which only shows H and stop working further. What can i do now..

There are two conditions under which a blinking "H" will appear in the
LCD panel: (1) when the film has been loaded incorrectly or (2) when the
camera's self-test process detects an internal malfunction. If a
blinking "H" indication appears, perform the following operations in
attempt to resolve the situation:

1. Rewind and remove the film using the rewind button, then remove the
battery to clear the memory.

2. Clean the contacts at the base of the battery compartment with a
clean pencil eraser to ensure proper contact between the camera and
battery.

3. Replace the battery, power the camera back up and operate it as if
it had film loaded, pressing the shutter release.

If the "H" display stops blinking, the problem is corrected and you can
continue using the camera normally. If the blinking does not stop, or
if it subsequently returns, the camera should be examined by an
authorized Canon service facility.

For factory service, please forward your camera to the Factory Service
Center shown below. When shipping your camera, please be sure to remove
the film (if possible) and batteries. You are not required to send any
accessories or manuals when shipping the camera. Be sure to include
your name, street address (no P.O. boxes, please), telephone number, and
a letter describing the issue with the product. If it has been less
than one year since the camera was purchased, we ask that you also
include proof of warranty in the form of a copy of your sales receipt.

As we do not provide RMA numbers for service, we suggest using a
traceable and insurable service (i.e. UPS, Federal Express, Priority
Mail) to ship your camera. Please package the camera very securely in a
sturdy shipping box to prevent damage during shipment.

Please send your camera to the following Factory Service Center:

Canon Factory Service
1440 Chase Ave.
Elk Grove Village, IL 60007

Telephone: (800) 828-4040
Business Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 midnight ET, and
Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. ET (excluding holidays)

Upon arrival at the Factory Service Center, your camera will be logged
in to our repair database and assigned a repair number. Next, the
camera will be examined and you will be advised of the findings. If the
required repairs are covered by the warranty, the repairs will begin
immediately. When the repairs are complete, the camera will be shipped
back to you via Federal Express or UPS.

The length of time for the repair will be dependent upon the nature of
the repair and availability of parts, if needed. Usually, warranted
repairs are completed within approximately ten to fourteen business days
of the camera's arrival at the Factory Service Center. Please be
assured that your camera will be returned as soon as possible. We
appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

All decisions regarding warranty coverage are made by the Factory
Service Center at the time of repair. If the repair entails something
that is not covered in warranty, or if the camera is out of warranty, a
written estimate will be sent to you at the address that you have
provided. The repairs to your camera will not begin until you approve
this estimate and make payment arrangements. If, after receiving the
estimate, you do not wish to have the camera repaired, please inform the
Factory Service Center of your decision as soon as possible. If you
decline the estimate, the camera will be shipped back to you
un-repaired.

Once you have confirmed with your shipper that the camera has been
delivered, you are more than welcome to contact us for repair updates.
Please include your name, address, and telephone number, as well as the
serial number of the camera, in all repair status inquiries. If you
prefer to contact us by phone, please see the above contact information.

Please note that our U.S. Factory Service Centers are unable to accept
packages from or return equipment to addresses outside the United
States.

Panasonic TZ1 flash problems!!

Panasonic knows about this and can fix it. It involves replacing a circuit board. I sent them my camera (Elk Grove Village, IL repair facility) at the beginning of Dec with a letter giving six web sites reporting the problem and asking them to fix it free of charge. I don't think the camera was on warranty, but I received it back, fixed, and with no charge, in about a week. Panasonic really came through on this and there is clearly no fix other than this one... except to stop trying to take flash pictures.
