Most all shower valve's these days have anti-scald protection. There are 2 ways that this protection is accomplished; temperature control device or a pressure balance device.
If your's has a pressure balance device, both cold and hot water lines that supply your shower valve must be fully opened. If you only turned on one, water will not flow from the shower valve.
If both hot and cold supplies are fully opened and you soldered copper pipe to the shower valve, it is possible that excess soldered is was sucked into the valve and could be obstructing the valve's outlet.
