It should be placed behind the catch (button). If the button retainers are not broken off, just place it under the catch and snap it back into place.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
DC25's instant-release hose and wand are designed to detach quickly and easily when you need them. There are no fiddly clips or buttons to press - when you extend the wand upwards to it's fullest extend and pull it firmly, it should separate from the main body of the vacuum:
If the wand seems jammed, or you continue to have difficulty removing it, our experts are on hand to take some further details and provide assistance. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
DC25 doesn't use a conventional, user-replaceable belt. Instead it it uses a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use, protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it.
Normally, checking the cleaner head for obstructions and removing any threads or hair from the brush bar and endcap will allow you to reset your machine:
However if you've already followed each of the steps shown in our video guide without success, you may need a replacement cleaner head or a repair of your machine. If you can contact us directly we should be able to arrange this for you, and can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.
When you have your DC25 easily to hand, please get in touch with the Dyson Customer Helpline so we can help determine if a repair or replacement part is needed. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Hi Connie, it's Jack at Dyson.
If you're having trouble removing the wand from your machine, this may be because the hose was twisted when you last replaced it after use. This is simple to resolve by following the steps shown in the video attached.
I'm confident this will help, but if you'd like some further advice after you've given this a try, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1800 239 766 (AU).
